“Viljandi” by Priit Pangsepp

We have the pleasure of inviting you to the opening of the exhibition Viljandi by Priit Pangsepp on Friday, July 11 at 5 PM.

The artist presents both his latest and earlier works depicting his beloved hometown, approached in a deeply personal way.

At the exhibition opening, the newly published book "Viljandi Priit" will be presented. The book offers an overview of Pangsepp’s creative journey spanning four decades. The catalog includes the artist’s works, an interview with him, essays by contributors, a list of exhibitions and design projects, and a wealth of visual material. Art historian Mari Vallikivi will hold a conversation with the artist.

Priit Pangsepp (b. 1966) is an artist from Viljandi, one of the founders and active members of the Kursi School. "The fact that Pangsepp is simultaneously in Viljandi and, as a member of Kursi School, outside of Viljandi, has given him gratifying independence, as well as the contradictory identity of belonging and not belonging. His work is characterised by dual nature: dreaminess and reality, surreal settings and real places. He has subtly captured the spirit of the age with his work, reflecting the current emotional state of people in the incredibly unreal reality that surrounds us,” writes Mari Vallikivi.

Priit Pangsepp has been a member of the Estonian Artists' Association and the Tartu Artists' Association since 1992.

The exhibition will remain open until August 24.
