The Bootmaker. Solo exhibition by Paul Rodgers
12.08-12.09.2026
Paul Rodgers’ solo exhibition “The Bootmaker” will be open at gallery Pallas from Wednesday, 12 August. Spanning two floors of the gallery, the exhibition brings together works created specifically for the show as well as pieces from earlier periods of the artist’s career.
The main hall on the gallery’s ground floor will feature a series of works created by Rodgers over the past year specifically for the exhibition in Tartu. Comprising sculptural objects, photographs, videos and texts, the series explores the artist’s personal memories and the influences of growing up in post-war England. Rodgers also examines the impact these emotional experiences and memories have had on the artist.
A selection of the artist’s earlier photographic works and narrative texts will be displayed on the gallery’s basement floor.
The Bootmaker follows on from “The Power of Practice”, an exhibition by the Estonian Energies at Tartu Art Museum in 2021–2022, in which Rodgers exhibited alongside Jaan Toomik, Jüri Ojaver and Jaan Paavle (1940–2010). Although Rodgers is of British origin, he has lived and worked in Estonia since the early 1990s as an artist, curator and educator.
The exhibition is supported by The Cultural Endowment of Estonia and Artproof.
