Artists and art students are welcome to apply for the 4rd international sea-themed art biennale “Marīna 2023” competition exhibition. Participants can submit 1-3 works that are two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or video format created with different media. Submitted works have been created in the last two years and correspond to the theme of the exhibition “On Water God’s Shoulders”.

What if the Devil painted the Moon pitch black? The Moon Painters, (also Painting the Moon) a 19th-century Estonian folk tale retold by the Estonian-American writer Selve Maas, tells the story of the creation of the world when the Creator hung a huge ball of gold in the sky to light up the Earth at night. This displeased the Devil (or Vanapagan), for he needed the darkness to accomplish his work of enslaving the souls.
An open international art competition is under way in relation to the construction of the new annex for the National Museum of Finland. A webinar was broadcast in December, presenting the specifications and objectives of the competition. A recording of the webinar is now available.
